2012 Rich River Trainee Classic Winner Quinton Howe
Quinton Howe from the Kew Golf Club held on to win the 2012 Rich River Trainee Classic today by three shots from fellow Victorian Jack Wilson. For his effort, Howe takes home prize money of $5500.
Howe started strongly, rounding the turn in his final round at three-under for the front-nine, before stumbling on the back-nine in finding the water twice. Howe continued to battle however, managed to offset each bogey with a birdie to complete the tournament with a sixty-nine and a four-round total of thirteen-under par.
Defending champion Jack Wilson completed a solid tournament of his own, shooting under par in each of his four rounds to finish the tournament at ten-under. Wilson worked hard all week, but had too much ground to make up when Howe started the day with a two-shot cushion.
Manly Golf Club's Richard Gallichan performed strongly in his first tournament as a Trainee Golf Professional in finishing third place, after three rounds of seventy combined with a seventy-one.
The Rich River Golf Club Resort again did a magnificent job in welcoming one-hundred and twenty-five Trainee Golf Professionals from across Australia, with outstanding course conditions, great hospitality and excellent support from both staff and volunteers.
