Play underway in Toowoomba
Thursday, 23 February 2012
Play is underway in the first round of the Coca-Cola Queensland PGA Championship with Victorian Ash Hall setting the pace for the morning field.
Through six holes Hall, a former winner on the PGA Tour of Australasia, is 3-uunder par and one ahead of Craig Parry and Andrew Martin who both sit at 2-under par.
Although early days, Hall looks to be continuing his good recent form that saw him claim a spot in this year’s Open Championship.
In January Hall was one of three players to qualify for the Major via International Final Qualifying which took place at Kingston Heath in January.
With light showers hovering over Toowoomba birdies are proving few and far between on day one.
Teeing off from 11.00am the afternoon field is expected to get the best of Thursday’s conditions with plenty of talent ready to take advantage.
Marquee players in the afternoon field include defending champion Gareth Paddison, Kurt Barnes, Jarrod Moseley, Andre Stolz, Michael Hendry and Steve Jones.
The Coca-Cola Queensland PGA Championship will continue at City Golf Club Toowoomba through to Sunday afternoon.
