Swan aims to be a trainee

THE Geelong Advertiser newspaper reports that while injuries cruelled the AFL career of Danny O'Keefe, the former first-round draft pick is aiming to become a PGA Trainee.
The Advertiser reported in part on Saturday: “O'Keefe has hit the fairways in a bid to become a golf pro, practicing daily in between shifts selling equipment and helping run tournaments at 13th Beach golf course, as he attempts to qualify for a professional traineeship."
The 21-year-old has slashed his handicap from 10 to two since returning to golf in November last year, just weeks after he was delisted following three injury interrupted seasons with the Sydney Swans.
His moment of truth arrives in the coming weeks when he starts a series of weekly “playing tests” from September 6 through to the end of October to qualify for a three-year traineeship.
O'Keefe said he, "couldn't wait to tackle the test rounds, in which he will have to shoot an average score of less than five over par to qualify for the opportunity offered to him by 13th Beach Golf Club.”
