Williamson and Uebergang tie for the win at Country Club
Thursday, 2 February 2012
South Australian Paul Williamson and Queenslander Nathan Uebergang have tied for the win at the Country Club SIW/IGA Pro Am with fine rounds of three under par 68. In great conditions for golf Uebergang and Williamson were one shot clear of local hopes Scott Priest and Craig Hancock (69).
Uebergang had five birdies in his round with two bogies in his round, Williamson’s round came with three birdies, an eagle and also two bogies.
Both players commented on the great condition of the course and the tremendous support from the corporate sponsors of the event.
Williamson has been conducting Holden Young Lions clinics at each of the events courtesy of Motors Holden and he was obviously able to give himself some sound advice on the course.
“I am really pleased with my score today, I was able to finish with an eagle and three pars, so it was refreshing to be able to hold it together on the run home”, said Williamson
Craig Hancock (Tas), who along with Clint Rice and Kalem Richardson, has secured his tour card for the 2012 OneAsia season was happy with his round of two under par.
“I had five birdies on the course today, but let it slip with some bogies on the next hole from a birdie. To still finish in a tie for third gives me confidence going into the next four Pro-Ams, I am sure a win is not far away”, said Hancock
With only five players able to break par the course certainly stood up to the challenge today.
The Tasmanian swing of Southern Tour continues tomorrow at the Launceston Mitsubishi Exeter Golf Club Pro-Am, spectators are welcome to attend. There are eight events on the Tasmanian Pro-Am schedule in 2012 with prizemoney in excess of $50,000.
