Walters takes Southern honours

Thursday, 29 October 2009

The PGA would like to congratulate Euan Walters, winner of the 2008-2009 Callaway Victorian OOM.

Walters emerged victorious by just 8 points, ahead of Adam Porker and Ryan Haywood.

After twelve months on the road the Order of Merit final standings came down to the final day at Barham.

However it was a very happy Walters who held off a talented chasing pack to secure overall victory.

Despite finishing third Haywood was the major money winner with almost $20,000 in prize money, the right-hander collecting his cheques from just 29 rounds.

The Southern Tour of 2008-09 provided more than 40 rounds of golf in total.

Players who joined the circuit along the way included Marcus Fraser, Michael Curtain, and Gary Emerson from the Europe while Jarrod Lyle, David McKenzie, Alistair Presnell and Cameron Percy made appearances in between their US duties.

The Southern Division of the PGA would like to take the opportunity to thank our major sponsor Callaway for their support over the season and each and every golf club committee and all the tournament co-coordinators that have hosted an event in 2008-09.

Funny sometimes how we forget. Don’t know why the press are happy to let him go or let him disappear but why would they not follow every single golf shot that Steven Bowditch hits. Are you all dreaming? He is the best Australian talent by far take every one in to account if you wish. To all the aussies kickin butt on the tour, keep it up, you’re flying! But watch out because bowdo is still only 26 ish, lol, and had a few hiccups along the way. A good bloke and the best we have if he fires no doubt.
