It will be interesting to see Rory after he moves from Titleist to Nike. Will his scores suffer? Did he make the right decision?

Well I think that the situation is not good. Aussies are not playing well at the moment. Apart from a few exceptions, those on the US tour have been suffering from last round failures too many times to be just bad luck. We are suffering a drop in the Aussie standard of golf. We used to have regularly 14 or more Aussies tee it up for a tour event. Now the numbers are lower, generally 10 or so. I think this may be a trend. Anyone know what is the cause.

This is correct, Rod Pampling is currently ranked 354th in the world making him the 25th Aussie.

How things change in 6mnths. In my May post I said how well Matty Jones was going and promptly put the moccas on him as he had a lousy second half and lost his card, but battling on and still a good chance in Q school. Sendo, whom I declared maybe past his best, I'm delighted to say stuck it up me by finishing with possibly his best season ever and forcing his way into the top 50, putting him ahead of players like Appleby, Allenby and Baddeley and getting him into all the majors and invitationals next year. Great work from one of the straightest hitters around.

Great to see Jasons move up the rankings. Most of our high rank players are approaching the wind down years of the time on the main tours. Allenby, Appleby, Richard Green, Senden, O'Hern, etc are all in or near their 40's. We seem to have had a brace of younger pros who looked like they would make it in the big time but who have struggled. Players like Flanagan, Buckle, Nitties, etc may still come good but so far have not reached the potential many expect from them. Great also to see Matty Jones slow but steady rise as he keeps putting in consistant results in the US. Watch for him to break into the Top 50 with a win not too far away.

When Jarrod Lyle gets a full season in, we can expect him to quickly climb the rankings. Quality ball striker as evidenced at the Masters.

I NOTICED THAT WHEN PHIL,STRICTER,OR LEE WESWOOD FINISHED WITH A HIGHER SCORER THAN TIGER,THEIR POINTS REMAINS THE SAME.Tiger Woods 8.2 points, Steve Stricker 7 points.Phil 7.7.Phil finished in the plushes in the last two tournaments.

Hi Tonderai, the above World Rankings are correct as of Wednesday 3rd Nov 2010 where Tiger is ranked No2. This of course could change with the conclusion of the WGC-HSBC Champions in China this week where all top four in the World Ranks are playing. Kennedy Tutisui plays on the Australian Legends Tour and is currently ranked 67 on the 2010 E-Z-GO PGA Legends Tour Order of Merit.

Hi Lewis, The John Hughes Geely Nexus Risk Services WA Open is being played this week from Oct 28-31 at the Western Australian Golf Club. There are some top quality Aussies competing for the title including defending champ Michael Curtain, recent OneAsia winner Kim Felton, Stephen Leaney and rising star and accompolished amateur Jordan Sherrat making his professional debut. Should be a great few days of golf and worth getting along to for a look.

Are there any top tournaments in Perth on the horizon. I went to the last Johnie Walker at The Vines and loved it. Will West Aussies be able to see a top quality field like that again? (and soon)

Hi Ron, Michael Sim has taken a few weeks off from the US and is home in Australia. But look out for him at the JBWere Masters in November in Melbourne.

Fedex points have nothing to do with World Rankings. Jarrod Lyle is actually ranked 416 in the world, this can be easily viewed via - http://www.officialworldgolfranking.com/rankings/default.sps?region=world&PageCount=9

The last time I looked, Jarrod Lyle was still an Australian, ranked 163 on Fedex points.
