A strong Australian contingent will tee off tomorrow in Korea at the Namseoul Golf and Country Club for the third OneAsia tournament of the season, The 31st GS Caltex Maekyung Open Golf Championship.

With an impressive prize purse of approximately AUD$870,000 up for grabs, the tournament has attracted a quality international field including a host of players from Australia and New Zealand.

Among the 32 Australian Professionals in the 156 man field are Terry Pilkadaris, Scott Laycock, Ashley Hall, Stephen Leaney and Aaron Townsend. They are joined by West Australian Kim Felton, a previous OneAsia winner, who is competing in just his second tournament since recovering from a back injury.

"After a lot of rest, a few cortisone injections and many hours of Pilates, I am now back swinging pain free for the first time in a long time," said Felton.

"My game is fresh having not played for a long time, and I feel like I'm heading in the right direction, aiming for another win on OneAsia."

The Maekyung Open Golf Championship field also features all five PGA Tour of Australasia winners from the first half of the 2012 season; Scott Arnold (Victorian Open), Aaron Townsend (International Final Qualifying), Gareth Paddison (Adroit Insurance Group Victorian PGA Championship), Andrew Tschudin (Coca-Cola Queensland PGA Championship) and Michael Hendry (NZ PGA Pro-Am Championship).

They will all be attempting to outplay defending champion Korean KT Kim who this week is looking to claim his third Maekyung Open Golf Championship and add to his 2011 and 2007 victories.

KT Kim became a prominent figure in Australian golf last summer while competing on the International Team at The Presidents Cup. Partnering with compatriot Y.E. Yang to down the highly fancied pairing of Tiger Woods and Dustin Johnson in the four ball, Kim then went on to beat Webb Simpson in the singles.

Extending his time in Australia, Kim was also a late inclusion in the Australian PGA Championship presented by Coca-Cola where he led after the third round.
